According to Wikipedia, during the times of the Roman Republic, "social climbers would sew purple cloth on to cheaper clothing to give an appearance of wealth." Consider us then the literary climbers. Though, our words are hardly "cheap, pretentious or gaudy". The website is only a facade - a purple one at that - that does not mask the fact that we publish great work.
PURPLEPROSE.com is a free electronic magazine (e-zine) and virtual playground for creative writers, founded in 1996, featuring narrative prose, essays and poems. We have a core of talented visionaries who are not bogged down by the contours of microfiction, who challenge the status quo of the publishing world and simply, create ART - which by definition, should not concede to boundaries.
We encourage you to help us to create a community of writers and readers all interested exploring various themes as they share their work.
